The Sector for Gaming Laptops Has Turned into a Packed One

August 16, 2008

The times where laptops for gaming were a niche market are fading extremely fast. As I remember they were never the best selling laptop computers but being more significantly expensive they were the best profit generating systems. Regardless of that people probably wanted one. They were just the best laptop computers that the technology could provide at that time. They typically created loads of buzz however I doubt many buyers would go out and buy laptop computers at high prices. The future for gaming laptop computers is now seen by the massive players as an amazing opportunity for them.

Gaming notebooks are usually not affordable by most people and international brands know they can benefit from the giant profit margins even more with their bulk buying. With such slim margins on other laptop computers it is no surprise they would like to be involved. International brands could certainly find it simpler to get us to buy these laptop computers. What can small manufacturers possibly do if they are priced out of the market? Now potential purchasers will have greater choice it makes it arduous for the small system builders. I reckon potential buyers would trust the larger manufacturers more if they buy something high priced. I believe they surely are introducing a few of the best laptop computers available to purchase. This is no doubt the core competitive sales proposition remaining for the smaller guys. This is a massive sales feature that has to be mentioned. These types of customers more often then not are well informed on the technology and can compare spec for spec. For this kind of segment, the components are usually more valued than the appearance.

As a likely buyer myself this is actually all a beneficial situation for me. In the end, the costs will be lowered even more causing high end technology to be a choice that we can buy. I write that quite hesitantly however because the notebooks industry is a really fast moving area. New technology launches should prolong expensive prices. Increased competition usually creates better products at cheaper prices so the times ahead should be great.

I can see the of this already. Just see how cheap the laptops for gaming are at http://www.rizeon.com

Occupational Therapy and Your PDA

Occupational Therapy Made Easier

Medical downloads for the pda have improved the life of both patients and doctors of all kinds. These freeware software downloads make many types of medical conditions much easier to manage. For instance, occupational therapy and pdas can now be synonymous. Occupation therapy is a type of therapy used to help people who have been injured in an accident regain the use of their bodies so that they can return to their job or train for a new job if they are unable to perform their previous job.

Using a pocket pc, a therapist can schedule patients so that their day is full without being overfull. They can make sure that any appointments do not have conflicts, and can schedule in their personal appointments, as well.

Occupational therapy patients can use their ipaq to remind themselves of appointments, track their progress, and get information about the latest trends in occupational therapy. All of this can be done simply and easily with one of the many freeware medical downloads available on the Internet.

The medical software is easy to use and allows for updates from the software company so that when the product is improved or changed, the consumer can receive at no additional charge. This type of medical software can be an option when buying a pocket pc from companies such as Compaq or HP or others. Making lives easier is perhaps the most important function of the pda, and the medical field is one area that can always use improvement.

Greasing Bearings - How Much is Enough?

May 12, 2008

Previously, we have talked about using suitable greases for
different applications. Basically, we want to use low
temperature greases for low temperature applications and high
temperature greases for high temperature applications. The
reason is quite simple - we want the grease to form a thin film
of lubricating oil between the rubbing surfaces.

If we use high temperature grease for normal temperature
applications, the chances are the grease will still be in
semi-solid state and will not flow to cover the contact surfaces
of the moving components during operating conditions.

Assuming you have chosen the correct grease, how do you determine
how much you need to put into the bearing?

Excessive grease lubrication can easily cause overheating. The
grease gets churned around within the moving parts of the bearing
and has nowhere to go. The temperature rises. The grease becomes
the wrong temperature selection even though the application is
correct.

A general rule to follow is that the bearing should be filled
completely but the free space in the housing only partially. This
gives room for the grease to be ejected from the bearing on
start-up.

However, there is some grease, the so-called “totally-filled”
greases like lithium soap greases that can allow filling up to 90%
of the free space in the housing, without risk of a temperature
rise. This is because they are special. Their stability at high
temperatures is excellent and can be utilized over a wider
temperature range than sodium soap greases.

By filling up all the free space, impurities are effectively
prevented from entering and damaging the bearings and the
lubricating intervals can be extended.

For most other greases, the general rule applies.

Bearings can be divided into two categories - non-separable and
separable bearings. No matter which bearing type it is, the general
practice is to fill up the space between inner race, the outer race,
and the rolling components (ball or roller) on both sides of the
bearing. Because of its consistency, the grease should be able to
remain in place without dropping off. In this way, we can ensure
that the rubbing contact surface actually has grease on it.

For relubrication, how much is enough? The following formula gives
a good indication:

G = 0.005 DB

where,
G = grease quantity in grams
D = bearing outside diameter in mm
B = total bearing width in mm

By practicing proper lubrication, the bearings should be able to
last for a long time. However, bearings can still fail if it has
not been installed properly or for other reasons.

Until next time…

Laptop Computers Are Increasing In Popularity With Gamers

April 25, 2008

The last year has seen masses of hype thrown towards Microsoft’s Xbox 360, Sony’s Playstaion 3 and Nintendo’s Wii but a lot of interest has been seen in PC games. Basically whatever happens the PC will always be a major games platform.

Despite the efforts of some, gaming desktops are usually labelled big, ugly, loud, downright expensive and they are usually put in the corner of the bedroom. Enter the Laptop Computer…

Laptop computers are now accountable for up to 50 percent of all Computers sold which has been propelled by the consumer market.

Although most users don’t require mobility there’s something about being able to move a notebook computer from place to place and being wire free that we all find a must. The only gripe for game lovers was that the majority laptops were not powerful enough for playing games.
Any notebook meant for playing games on was also big, ugly, loud and just downright expensive.

Things have changed, changed a lot in fact. First the Core Duo processors started matching the pace of Desktop processors. Intel have done brilliantly marketing centrino and being the market frontrunner but AMD has applied the necessary pressure on them with their Turion X2 line. Nvidia has also pushed the limit on performance with their range of performance graphic processors. Things are moving in the right direction. Intel release the quad core processor in 2008. Nvidia will release the Geforce 9 series after having success with the 8 series.

Here are some good Gaming Laptops.

How well do you know yourself?

April 24, 2008

How well do you know yourself?

Terry Dashner…………………..Faith Fellowship Church PO Box 1586 Broken Arrow, OK 74013

The ancients said it this way: To thine own self be true, and know thyself. You could define the study of philosophy by this: “Know Thyself.”

Peter Kreeft, professor of philosophy and author states this, “You can be knowledgeable without knowing yourself, but you cannot be wise without knowing yourself. For if you do not know yourself, if you are a stranger to yourself. If you have never wondered about the knower, only about the known, then no matter how much knowledge you have, you do not know who has it.”

Most of the predecessors of Socrates focused exclusively on the terrestrial and celestial bodies, but Socrates studied only about man and his issues. He wanted to harmonize virtue and vice, wisdom and ignorance and right and wrong. In order to do this, he had to study himself. He spent his life learning himself. Ironically, the man who knew more than any other in Greece was executed because they said he corrupted the youth with his teachings and did not worship the right gods (state gods).

Again professor Kreeft says, “Try to measure the earth, and you may succeed (as one ancient Greek, Eratosthenes, actually did), and you may think you are wise; but try to measure yourself and your life’s meaning and things like truth, goodness, and beauty, and you will find that you are swimming in waters far over your head. The world in your head is much bigger than the world outside your head.”

To “know thyself” is to know that you are different than the beast of the field. God created you in His image and likeness. But to know yourself is to know your own limitations. When you have done all you can do as a man or woman, rest in God. You must reach your limits before God can help you. To know yourself is to know that evil is your potential as well as good; therefore, resist the urge to do your fellowman wrong. And let God love him through you.

Yesto know yourself is to know your own bitterness and contempt toward another. Find it and turn it all over to God. He forgives those who forgive others. To know yourself is to know the truth about yourself. What are you hiding from yourself? What are you covering up? Truth alone will set you free.

The Bible says in I Corinthians 2:11 “For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God” (NASB). Apart from God who made you, who can really know you? Only you can know yourself. When you come to know who you really are, you see yourself honestly. And honestly you are just a man or woman, nothing more. You are not God. Only God is God. His Holy Spirit, who knows the mind or plan of God, can help you in several ways.

For one the Holy Spirit can search the mind of your human spirit or soul (Romans 8: 27) and can read what’s bugging you. He can pick up on things in you that you can’t put into words and help you pray the right prayer for relief. Yes He can. Sometimes all we can do is groan in emotional pain and hurt, but the groaning is a language of prayer before God when the Holy Spirit is in it.

And yet another help is in purifying our hearts before God. The Spirit of God searches the deep things of manthe heart of man. He uses the Word of God as an instrument of cleansing and washes away our sins. Jesus told His disciples in John 15:3 that they were cleansed by His Word. This is power, and it sets us free.

As you learn who you are, you are beginning a walk in wisdom. You are wise to acknowledge your limitations before God and man, and let God lift you above them. With God all things are possible.

Keep the faith. Stay the course. Jesus is coming again. Yes, wise men still seek Him.

Finding A Bar Code Printer For You

April 23, 2008

For years, I used handmade price tags in my small business. This was not only time consuming in terms of creating the price tags, it also made it difficult to keep track of my inventory. Bar code printing, in any business, can bar code printing reduce costs, improve data management and accessibility, and increase productivity. There are unlimited applications and advantages to using a bar code printer.

Bar codes are made through various combinations of spaces and bars to create an encoded character message. Both the differences in the ink level and the spacing between the bars can be encoded variables. The bar code reader measures the light that comes back from the symbols, and comparing that to a computer database, offers what the symbol means to a computerized inventory program. The type of bar code you and your small business decide to use depends entirely on how much information you need the bar code to store. You can encrypt anywhere from fourteen digits to thousands of characters.

Once you have decided to make use of bar code technology in your small business, you have to decide what type of bar code printer you need. To print any type of bar code, you will need software that supports bar coding. Once you’ve gotten that far, you will also need a printer that can handle printing bar codes. Because accuracy is essential in the business of bar coding, a good printer is essential. While some common laser printers and desk printers can handle bar code technology, they have to be configured to your software. Buying a dedicated bar code printer is a good idea, in any case.

Bar code printers can work well with many different computer interfaces, and can be hooked up in a number of different ways including ethernet cables, USB cables, parallel cables, serial cables, twinax cables, and coax cables. More recently, it is possible to use a bar code printer with wireless technology like Bluetooth or 802.11b. Most companies who sell bar code printers also offer technical support like remote monitoring and trouble shooting.

You can decide on the right bar code printer to meet your needs by first thinking about size. The size of your bar code labels is very important to figuring out which printer you need. You should consider the kinds of environments the label will be expected to perform in http://www.exeterdaily.com/category/technology-online. This can help you decide upon the print method. There are two types of print methods: direct thermal and thermal transfer. Direct thermal creates an image on the material that is to be labeled. Thermal transfer uses a heated ribbon to create the image of your bar code on a wide selection of materials.

I am quite happy with my new bar coding system. Finding a bar code printer that fits your needs can make all the difference in your business.

Gaming Laptops Are A Real Option Now

April 22, 2008

The last year has seen masses of hype thown towards the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 but a lot of excitement has been seen in new PC titles. Basically whatever happens the PC will always be a large gaming platform.

Even though some manufacturers have tried, gaming PC’s are usually labelled big, ugly, noisy, expensive and they are always stuck in a small, isolated room. Enter the Notebook Computer…

Consumers have driven up laptop sales in the past two years. In fact in 2007 Notebook Computers were expected to overtake their desktop counterparts in overall PC sales.

Despite the fact that that the majority of users don’t need mobility or even a laptop there’s something about being able to move a computer from one location to another and being cable free that we all find is a must have part of our lifestyle.

The only problem for game lovers was that most laptops were not powerful enough for gamers. Any laptop meant for playing games on was also big, ugly, noisy and just expensive.

A lot is different now. First the Intel Core 2 Duo processors started equalling the speed of Desktop CPU’s. Intel have done a super job marketing centrino and being the market leader but AMD has pushed them enough to excel in the mobile market. Nvidia has also pushed the limit on speed with their line of high performance Graphic chips. Things are moving in the right direction. In 2008 Intel will release the quad core mobile CPU. Nvidia will release the Geforce nine series after having success with the 8 series.

The History and Achievements of the Hubble Telescope

April 16, 2008

The Hubble Telescope is famous worldwide for
its amazing images of the universe. Congress
in 1977 voted to fund a project to construct the
Hubble. Completion of the telescope was in 1985.
The Hubble was supposed to be launched a year
later but was delayed because of the 1986 Space
Shuttle Challenger disaster.

The Hubble Space Telescope was launched on April
25th, 1990 on the space shuttle. The giant telescope
Hubble sent back pictures from space that were out
of focus. The giant mirror had a major flaw. It was
too flat on one edge 1/50th of the width of a single
human hair.

The Space Shuttle Endeavor in December 1993
captured and corrected the Hubble by adding to
the telescope a camera to correct problems with
the Hubbles mirror. In February 1997 astronauts
exchanged some of its instruments and added
new blankets to keep Hubble warm. NASA decided
on Oct. 1997 to extend its operations from 2005
to 2010.

Hubble’s mission in space is to explore the solar
system, and measure the age and size of the
universe. Hubble’s giant telescope searches for our
cosmic roots, and charts the evolution of the universe.
It also trys to unlock the mysteries of stars, planets,
galaxies, and life itself.

Achievements of the Hubble

NASA releases Orion Nebula images from the Hubble
in June 1994 that confirms the births of planets around
newborn stars in space.

In Nov. 1995 telescope images released by NASA of the
“Eagle Nebula” showing where stars are born.

NASA releases the “Deep Field” images in Jan. 1996
in which Hubble looks back in time more than 10 billion
years. Revealing at least 1,500 galaxies at various stages
of development.

New images of “Ant Nebula” in Feb. 2001.

Materials Manager at KOYO Finds Integration with e-kanban and ERP

April 13, 2008

After several months in production, a new Materials Manager,
Mark Mekanik, who had come from a more traditional manufacturing
environment, was hired to oversee the raw material and purchased
parts warehouse for KOYO.

Datacraft Solutions allowed KOYO to migrate the manual faxbans
onto an electronic kanban platform that included bar code
scanning of inventory consumption and automatically conveying
that kanban signal to suppliers. The immediate benefit of this
transition was to relieve buyer planners of a significant
workload while keeping the internal process improvements
transparent to their suppliers so as not to require their
involvement.

Koyo is a very lean organization; they were solely internally
relying on visual signals to trigger supplier replenishment of
consumed inventory. Koyo originally signed up with Datacraft
Solutions to help manage the flow of some 3000 faxes per day
that were being sent to 30 of key suppliers on kanban.
Management of this volume of cards was unwieldy and error prone.
Although the visual system was maintaining the flow of
inventory, it was only at great administrative expense.

Very early on Mekanik learned that it was impossible to get
answers to the seemingly simple questions of:

* How much inventory of part number X do I have on hand? * How
much is on order? * When will it arrive?

These were questions that were easily answered in his ERP
experience but seemed quite elusive in this flow oriented kanban
replenishment environment.

Mark immediately initiated a project that would integrate
Signum, his electronic kanban system, with his ERP system,
Syteline. The goal of this project was to develop a “perpetual
inventory system” that would provide answers to the questions he
was seeking, while not disrupting the value he was getting from
his electronic kanban platform. Koyo went live with their
integrated systems in early 2005.
