The method know as 3d ultrasound is used when a woman is in early pregnancy, it can provide 3d pictures of the fetus. Most of the time these pictures are rapidly captured and combined and animated to produce a 4d ultrasound scan.
Three dimensional scans works in a similar way to the normal scanning methods except that the ultrasound scanning waves are sent from multiple directions. The ultrasound pulses can be reflected back then captured to provide info to construct a 3d picture in in a similar manner to 3d movies. 3 dimesional ultrasound was started by stephen smith and olaf von ramm.
It is important to understand that sonologists everywhere have always pictured 3d images of the body in their minds while carrying out 2d scans. However, until recently it was almost impossibel to do this type of reconstruction on on patient information using ultasound scanning. With the introduction of baby scans for the first time allowed us a peek into the thinking of a sonologist and allowing us to reconstruct the images on the ultrasound machine.
The 3d/4d ultrasound image should utilize ultrasound energy following the same limits as conventional 2d ultrasound to create the 3d images. There is no data to suggest any harm due to 3d ultasound scanning, its use in non-medical situations should be undertaken with an understanding of the risks that may exist.

You’re trying to catch up on some sleep on a quiet Saturday morning when you hear the shrill scream of a child, who seems upset with the fact that another child is pointing at him or her, and has done so for the past three minutes. You turn over and hope that they will resolve it without your intervention…but that’s unlikely, given their past.
The screams get louder, and now it’s two children instead of one. A few seconds later, one stops screaming and the other starts crying. You hear the pattern of foot steps running across the hall, and climbing the steps. Finally, the child bursts in your room. Your ‘rest time’ is over. It’s the beginning of another long day of breaking up fights, dealing with disobedience, and cleaning up after the smaller versions of yourself. You’ll try to have patience with the steady streams of “I want” and “Can I have”.
Some days offer a surprise. A change in the mundane. Maybe a trip to the hospital to fix a head injury. Or maybe they’ll all get sick at the exact same time, and you’ll wonder if the projected vomit somehow defies the laws of physics to get into places you didn’t know existed. How about chasing a naked child down the street and wondering where he stashed his clothes and how he’d gotten out of the gate?
At eleven PM, after fighting with them for two hours to stay in their beds, they finally fall asleep. You sit down for a while to enjoy the silence and catch your breath. You finally have enough time to discuss some important matters with your spouse, but both of you are too tired to talk. Finally, you head up to get ready for bed. You lean over the children to kiss them goodnight and your heart melts.
Suddenly, you forget the fights. You can’t remember your frustration. Your ears are no longer ringing. Suddenly you realize how much you love them. You stop asking yourself why you ever thought having children was a good idea. The feeling alone is worth it, and you thank God for giving them to you.

With summer approaching, you would love to wear those cute maternity sun dresses, but you don’t want to show off your pale white skin. Now, you need to decide what is the best way to tan without possibly putting your baby in danger. Tanning beds during pregnancy are just as safe as tanning outside in the direct sunlight.
At this time there are no studies on the effects of tanning beds on the unborn child, so anything you hear is nothing but myths. The UV light used in tanning beds do not reach the child, therefore your baby is not at risk.
During the first trimester your doctor will advise you not to do anything that will raise your body’s temperature, such as hot tubs, saunas, and tanning beds. But, it may be okay to have 10 -15 minute sessions while lying on your side or standing in a tanning booth, to prevent your blood flow from being restricted.
The most important thing to remember is to stay cool and drink plenty of fluids. Your skin during pregnancy is also sensitive to burning, so you should start with short sessions until your body is tanned. Pregnancy and tanning beds is no more harmful to your child than lying in the sun. Just use common sense and make sure you are comfortable. It’s always best to go with the motto, if you think it’s not worth the risk.. then don’t do it!
