I’ve noticed an interesting trend lately. Usually the e-mail I receive in response to this column comes from rookie entrepreneurs or established business owners seeking my input on startup matters, financing, employee relations, general management and leadership issues, policy matters, etc.
Lately, however, many of the messages are coming from employees of medium-size and large companies who are growing frustrated at working in an environment that they deem (to quote one e-mail) “Intellectually stifling and (that) offers few challenges of one’s creativity and innovation.”
These folks are asking how best to move from being someone else’s bored employee to coming into their own as an excited entrepreneur.
These people are called “intrapreneurs,” and their ranks are growing, which should be of great concern to the employers who have either been unaware that they existed or have chosen to ignore them in the past.
By definition, intrapreneurs are employees who think with an entrepreneurial slant. Instead of just doing their jobs by the numbers, intrapreneurs approach every task with an entrepreneurial mindset.
They are always thinking of ways to improve products or processes. They are innovators, creative thinkers, and are quite often viewed by management as squeaky wheels. Unfortunately, intrapreneurs also are often seen as troublemakers and hard to manage because they push the envelope of what’s expected from a traditional employee.
Most big companies don’t want employees who think independently. They don’t want employees who think outside of their job description, as intrapreneurs are prone to do. I know this from personal experience, but that’s a whole ‘nother column.
The primary difference between entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs is that the intrapreneur would be just as happy to spend his life as someone else’s employee if the working environment nurtured and supported his efforts. Intrapreneurs do not want to become entrepreneurs.
They are perfectly happy working for someone else if the environment offers opportunities for advancement and growth based on initiative and creativity, not just on years punched in.
Sadly, most big companies do not know how to nurture their intrapreneurs. Just the opposite is more the norm: They give employees a policies manual and tell them to toe the line.
They hand you a written job description and expect you to operate within its parameters. When I quit my last real job some 10 years ago, my reason for doing so was that the corporate environment was just sucking the genius and the life right out of me. It’s something I hear every week now from intrapreneurs.
Intrapreneuring is nothing new. As long as there have been employers and employees, there have been intrapreneurs. But the Internet boom spawned a new generation of free-agent-minded employees who want the mental rewards and freedom of working for an entrepreneurial venture, and the financial stability of working for an established company.
Just because the Internet boom went bust does not mean the mentality of this generation of entrepreneurially minded employees has changed.
To the contrary, intrapreneurs are now part of practically every midsize to large organization, and they are biding their time and watching for opportunity while on the company payroll. This new generation of employees brings a change in the workplace mindset - from one of “serial employment” to one of “entrepreneurial advancement.”
The only way to convert the focus of these employees, who are usually the most talented people within the organization, is to give them what they want - the opportunity to excel and grow within an environment that appreciates entrepreneurial thought. When intrapreneurs are allowed to flourish, the entire company will follow.
We are in the age of ownership, where everyone from the CEO to the janitor has more opportunities and options than ever before. We demand ownership in our lives and in our careers. The gold watch has been replaced by the brass ring.
Here’s to your success.

Today we’re going to wrap up our discussion about these 5
critical copywriting techniques you must be using in “5 Ways
To Give Your Prospects A Much-Needed Break!”
O.K.?
Let’s just go over the 3 items we’ve already discussed:
1. Writing compelling sub-headlines, strategically placed
throughout your sales copy!
You must use at LEAST one per written page.
2. Using compelling bullets to firmly and confidently state
or re-state the benefits of your goods or services!
3. Making sure you’re alternating bold copy with the
“normal” copy in your bullets, to provide your prospects
with “eye-relief” and to emphasize the critical parts of
your sales copy!
And finally…
4. You must be writing in short sentences, made up of basic
ideas!
See, you DON’T want to be delivering more than one point at
at a time when you’re talking to a prospect — because in a
sales letter, if they haven’t had time to digest your first
item… and they you hit ‘em up with the second item
anyway…
They’re going to be confused.
And confusion, like “delay”…
Is The Death Of A Sale!
If you’re prospect’s confused, they’ll bail on you faster
than a lawyer bails on his client as soon as he’s ran out of
money!
You should even use very short sentences when you need to.
Like this!
Make sense?
5. And lastly, use short paragraphs as well.
Just think about it for a second: How annoying is it when
someone strings sentence after sentence together when
they’re talking to you? Without any interruption. And
without making any kinds of pauses. Even for breathing. Or
to ask you if they’re making sense? Doesn’ that just drive
you nuts?
That’s as irritating as nails grating across a chalk board!
By using short sentences and short paragraphs, you’re making
it as easy as possible for your reader to digest what you’re
saying and get on with it.
Listen, the bottom line is… if you’re writing sales copy
and you don’t consistently use all these little “tricks”…
you’re going to end up writing… a lot MORE sales copy…
in exchange for…
A lot… less… sales!

This is actually an important key to your business and sometimes
its success. I will explain why through-out this article.
Firstly when choosing a domain name you can use letters, numbers
or hyphens however you can’t use hyphens at the beginning nor
the end of your URL. You can use up to 67 characters.
Choosing a smaller domain name will help your website be more
easily remembered for repeat vistors (who don’t bookmark your
website but wish to return). Problem is most of the smaller
domain names are taken these days.
Choosing a name that is relevant and rich in keywords for your
product or service will enhance your chances of being found in
the search engines. From my knowledge using hyphens can actually
give you a better position for example, if you are selling horse
shoes you might choose a domain name that looks like this:
www.horse-shoes.com
Some of my websites are found by someone typing this as a
keyword www.horse (example only) and that’s all they type. If
you type that into google you’ll see that all domain names that
start with www.horse are brought up first!
You may also want to consider buying the domain names such as if
you wanted www.horse-shoes.com also buy www.horse-shoes.org and
.biz and .us… This can help ensure that someone doesn’t take any
business from you simply by buying your name and replacing the
.org .net .us .biz etc.
If you have an already establish a company name and already well
known then you would want to obviously choose that as your
domain name.

From the beginning of commerce, businesses have been promoting the ideas and products of other businesses as a way to make their own business a successful one. For example, you may see that a real-estate company may promote a particular lawyer in order to close a sale while that lawyer will also promote that real estate company in his firm.
Everyone has heard of the barter system and may have thought that this system is outdated and is not used anymore. However, with modern technology, the barter system is still alive. People still trade services and items rather than using money. The business of Internet marketing is proof that the barter system is still alive.
In the Internet Marketing world, we call this new form of the barter system, cross promoting. This system is in place to trade of advertising space. Advertising companies in the past have charged top dollar for premium advertising space on the most prominent bill boards or a radio station that has millions of listeners.
Now, with the availability of the Internet, instead of paying for advertising space in this way, you would place the ad for your own home based business idea or opportunity on another website while the other website places their ad on your website. Cross promoting can be done in many ways and can be a very cost effective way for you to advertise your Internet business.
Reciprocal linking is one major way that webmasters help each other to advertise their products, services and opportunities. Exchanging links with other similar websites as your own, is a very effective, but you should also be aware of who your direct competition is and avoid promoting products and services that are exactly the same as yours.
One of the best things about exchanging links, or ads, with other similar websites is that each website benefits from becoming more popular in the eyes of the search engines. Search engines look at the number of links into a website from other websites throughout the Internet and determine the importance of each website based on these factors. For example, if you are able to exchange links with another website that has a higher search engine ranking than your own, you will benefit greatly from the popularity of that website.
Therefore, reciprocal linking to a more popular site, can not only help increase your advertising ability and website traffic, but will also increase the popularity of your own website by being rated higher in search engine rankings.
Reciprocal linking leads into more opportunities to promote more of your ideas to your customers, or even potential customers, when they subscribe to your ezine, or newsletter. When you get a subscription to your publication, you can now use this as an opportunity to use cross promote your other ideas and opportunities.

Multi tasking color printers are growing in popularity with consumers today especially as prices continue to drop. It isn’t unheard of to be able to get one of these workhorses for “free” when purchasing a new computer and monitor. One unit, the HP PSC 1210 All-in-One, is frequently included with these packages or sold through office stores at a nice discount. Let’s take a look at this particular HP entry in the increasingly crowded “all in one” market.
By using the term ‘all in one’, consumers need to understand what they are purchasing. In the 1210’s case you are receiving a unit that does three things: it copies, scans, and prints. It does not have a fax capability as some leading “all in one” products do. Thus, you are receiving a “3 in 1″ product, not a “4 in 1″ product. Obviously, you will need to look elsewhere if fax capability is something you must have.
Still, for what it does, the 1210 is a good product. Specifically, it will do the following for you:
Give you color prints with up to 4800 x 1200 optimized dpi (on premium photo paper with 1200 x 1200 input).
Enable you to scan photos, documents, and pages of books using the flatbed scanner with up to 600 x 2400 dpi, 36-bit color.
Permit you to print and copy fast: up to 12 ppm black and 10 color.
Be able to stay on top of ink replacement with the low ink indicator.
Allow you to enlarge and reduce images 50-400%
Give to you HP photo & imaging software that will allow you to print stickers, fabric transfers, and more.
Buttons on the top left side of the machine are easy to understand. There is a separate On/Resume button which clearly tells you when the unit is on followed by various “error” buttons warning you when there is a paper jam or a problem with the cartridge. Buttons allowing you to pick the number of copies you want to print at a time, paper size, and paper type follow. Finally, the last two buttons help you to control the copying and scan features.
I have used the product to produce some very sharp looking color flyers, business cards, and photographs. As long as the paper I used was proper [what HP recommended], I received very good to excellent results.
You can, however, go through ink cartridges rapidly. In fact, one mass production project I performed had me replacing the color cartridge after 250 copies or so. Forget about purchasing HP replacement cartridges — too pricey — instead, I bought replacements from an online retailer, Carrot Ink. Carrot Ink’s cartridges are of excellent quality and the savings was close to 30% off the HP originals. Still, after I finished my printing campaign the ink alone costs exceeded the original $150. price for the unit!
One thing that you will notice if you purchase the 1210 is that it does not include the required USB cable. If you have to purchase one, it will add another $20-25 to the price of the unit. Still, prices are coming down and you should be able to get a discounted unit for less than $125 or a refurbished unit for under $100.
All in all, I give this unit four stars out of five. The only drawbacks are the lack of an included USB cable and the thirsty toner cartridges. Still, the machine will pay for itself quickly especially if you have been running to Kinko’s or Sir Speedy’s on a regular basis to produce pricey color copies.

Search engine copywriting has become an extremely important part
of the overall search engine optimization process. However, in
addition, search engine copywriting has developed into a
misunderstood craft.
Shoving keywords in anywhere they can possibly go is not
considered search engine copywriting. The process is more
defined than that. Successful SEO copywriting takes planning.
Any half-hearted efforts at writing copy geared strictly toward
the engines will usually result in a decline in your customer’s
experience at your site.
What’s the best way to write SEO copy? Starting with a plan is
always a good idea. Keep in mind, these are guidelines of
techniques that can be used *IF* they make sense for your site
visitors. I never recommend writing solely for the search
engines. In the case of search engine copywriting, the customer
is truly #1.
1) Use Three Keyphrases Per Page - Not a carved-in-stone rule,
the guideline of three keyphrases per page gives good variety
and helps keep the copy from sounding too repetitive. I always
choose keyphrases first - before I write - because they can have
a direct impact on the focus of the page.
2) Have 250 or More Words of Copy - The length of your copy
depends on several things: Your target customer’s preferred
communication style, whether the product is new to the
marketplace, if a detailed explanation needs to be given, site
design and many other factors. However, the 250-word minimum
gives enough room to get your message across and offer an
effective level of keyword support. Remember though, it’s all
about the customer. If your target customers prefer longer copy,
write longer copy. If they like shorter copy, write shorter copy.
3) Write In Natural Language - “Natural language” is a term
popular in SEO copywriting. It means that the reader should not
be able to (or should barely be able to) detect what keyphrases
the page is being optimized for. The copy should flow as if it
were not written with the search engines in mind. You don’t want
the copy to sound forced or stiff. When you generate ideas for
the page copy, keep your keywords in mind. Ask yourself whether
you can use them in the copy in such a way that they won’t be
obtrusive.
4) Use Keyword Phrases In Headlines and Sub-headlines - IF it
makes sense to do so. You will not blow your rankings if you
have no keyword-filled
or other tags. If your headline
sounds stupid with keywords in it, don’t use them. There are
countless sites online that rank highly which have no keywords
in the headline.
5) Use Keyword Phrases Once or Twice Per Paragraph - Again IF it
makes sense. Remember what I keep repeating? None of these
guidelines are carved in stone. Read your copy out loud. If it
sounds stupid or forced, take out some keywords or find ways to
rework them so they flow more naturally.
6) Use Keyword Phrases In Bold, Italic or Bulleted Lists - IF it
makes sense to do so. Don’t automatically bold or italicize
every instance of your keywords. It will make your page look
stupid, and your visitors will wonder what kind of drugs you’ve
been doing!
7) Do NOT Use Keyword Phrases As Substitutes For Generic Terms -
For example, do not replace every instance of the generic word
“cruise” with the keyphrase “Mexico cruise vacation.” Your copy
will sound ridiculous.
We offer Mexico cruise vacation packages on the most popular
Mexico cruise vacation ships to the most breathtaking Mexico
cruise vacation destinations. Oh please!!
Use Keyword Phrases As Anchor Text In Links - This is
certainly not always possible. If your primary keyphrase is
“Mexico Cruise Vacation,” you absolutely should not write every
link to include that phrase. However, if you can include
keywords in anchor text within body copy or in text navigation
links, you might score a little extra credit.
9) Test and Track - Lastly, and above all, please remember, it
may take some tweaking to get your page to convert the way you
want it to. All customers are not the same, and all sites are
not the same. All keyphrases are not the same. There is no magic
bullet. You’ll have to test and track and see what works best
for you.

If your ad is not generating a lot of sales, the
reason may be because it is not effective.
Here are secret website advertising tactics to make
it more impactful and therefore generate more orders:
1. You could end your ad copy by telling people
what will happen if they buy your product. Use
your most powerful benefit as the example.
2. You could end your ad copy by telling people
what will happen if they don’t buy your product. Use
a problem that they won’t be able to solve without it.
3. You could end your ad copy with a question
they will always say yes too. They then will be used
to saying yes when you ask them to order.
4. You could end your ad copy with a short review
of your whole ad. Repeat all the major benefits and
features they will receive.
5. You could end your ad copy with a deadline.
Tell them it’s a limited time offer and they need to
order by a specific date.
6. You could end your ad copy with a powerful
guarantee. Give them a lifetime or triple your
money back guarantee.
7. You could end your ad copy with a testimonial.
Use one or two of your customers’ testimonials
that is believable and includes specific results.
8. You could end your ad copy with a free bonus.
When you give them a free bonus it increases the
product’s perceived value.
9. You could end your ad copy with a discounted
price. Just list your regular price and then offer a
discounted price off the order right now.
10. You could end your ad copy with a free sample
or trial of your product. If your ad didn’t attract them
to buy, maybe a free sample or trial would.
May these website advertising secrets help you to make
a lot of money and succeed.
