What’s so Special about Hayling?

May 7, 2009

If you want a brilliant combination of British Seaside Charm and the Adrenaline Fixes of some water sports, you should really consider going to Hayling.

There are miles of beautiful views all over the island, over which you can walk, cycle or amble around. The Island pace is a slow one…

It is said that windsurfing was invented on Hayling - even if this isn’t strictly true, it illustrates how wondeful Hayling is for water sports.

Hayling Island is the only place in Britain to qualify for two European Blue Flag awards and its excellent beaches have also been awarded a Tidy Britain Seaside Award for their water quality, safety and cleanliness.

The seaside shore is five miles long and offers safe places for enjoying swimming, beach volleyball, picnicking and barbeques, with some facilities accessible to wheelchairs.

For many British people, Hayling Island is known for its warm hospitality and glorious beaches. It also has an amusement park, which holds many special childhood memories for a great many people.

There are a range of places to stay around Hayling Island, which will suit all budgets. From the caravan parks dotted around the place to all the little bed and breakfast lodgings as well as some of the finer hotels. One of the best Hayling Hotel is Cockle Warren Cottage Hotel.

The island’s proximity to Portsmouth, Chichester and Emsworth makes it an ideal base for touring, with attractions such as Southsea Castle and Staunton Country Park nearby.
