In September 2008, Intelius launched its online people search called iSearch.com at the DEMOfall, a semi-annual conference produced by Network World Events and Executive Forums. Intelius’ iSearch.com employs “proprietary semantic technology,” which is a compilation of mechanically produced information. This works by connecting several online and offline public records like open databases, social networking website profiles, and professional databases to directly classify and attach data creating inclusive profiles of people. These professional files include information about email addresses, education history, classmate and colleagues, domain registrations, and employment background. Social networking profiles provide information such as friends, hobbies, interests, screen names, and activities. On the other hand, open files contain contact or personal information such as current age, present and previous cell phone numbers and home addresses, birthdays, and other connections.
